What does Elayna notice when Riley finally gets home? Not just that the passage is over. His long-standing moustache has gone, shaved off with an electric trimmer aboard the moving trimaran. "Elayna's never seen me without a moustache, ever," he says before the reunion.
"He Survived the Sail. His Moustache Didn't." was Sailing La Vagabonde's only new upload, reaching more than half a million views. The grooming decision supplies some light relief around a difficult voyage: Riley describes a rogue wave forcing water into an electrical compartment, followed by smoke and an immediate shutdown. Later, he shows Elayna the damage, including a severed sail, scorched components and a toilet no longer where it belongs.
On land, Elayna has a different kind of cargo to deliver. She takes new instruments to a string band on Lelepa Island, where the visit brings an impromptu performance and woven gifts in return. Several viewers pick out that exchange in the comments; others puzzle over the moustache's reappearance in the later debrief. Maritime continuity has acquired a facial-hair department.
The new episode is comfortably the channel's busiest video right now, with the earlier emergency-stop passage and home-location update also drawing views. Across the channel, the week added roughly 819,000 views and carried the lifetime total beyond half a billion. Subscribers held steady, while daily viewing is currently well below its usual level.
Elayna's property walk gives the land-based story more shape, too: the planned main house now has a place alongside a gym, goat shed and route to a waterfall. The permanent Vanuatu base is becoming a layout rather than just an idea.
