Spain's conservative People's Party and far-right Vox have agreed to coordinate Senate candidacies, seeking stronger control of the upper chamber. Spain's public broadcaster, Radio Televisión Española, reports the agreement in its RTVE Noticias daily roundup, alongside election upheavals abroad and the aftermath of unrest at home.
The pact concerns how the parties distribute candidacies across provinces. In its accompanying coverage, the broadcaster explains that the objective is a reinforced Senate majority that would allow them to appoint Constitutional Court judges without negotiating with the Socialists. The bulletin shows People's Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo and senior colleague Cuca Gamarra at a party meeting.
Elsewhere in Spain, Barcelona businesses are repairing damage from the weekend's disturbances. A shopkeeper describes people arriving to steal, while a glass installer explains how much force was needed to break the damaged material. Mayor Jaume Collboni promises public assistance where insurance does not cover the losses.
In Madrid's Puerta del Sol, the housing-protest encampment has reached a month. Organizers say they intend to remain, despite the disappearance of some tarpaulins over the weekend. They have not settled on an end date.
The international coverage begins with Brazil, where the report describes a sharp São Paulo stock-market fall after Lula da Silva's victory and resistance to the result from Bolsonaro supporters. It then follows Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado's return after ten months abroad. Crowds accompany her toward Caracas, but her next steps remain undisclosed. Youth organizer Carlos Alberto Fernández says she has returned to unite the country and accelerate a political transition.
The bulletin also reports an absolute legislative majority for Serbia's opposition Student List over Aleksandar Vučić's party. A Vatican segment says Pope Leo XIV's visits to Uruguay, Peru and Argentina will proceed following surgery.
The closing briefs cover rescue and assessment work after a bus plunged down an embankment in Montseny, near Barcelona, and judicial testimony about police preparations and surveillance before a mass migrant entry into Ceuta, Spain's enclave on the North African coast.
