  2. 2:28Starter selection gives RT a Mareep named Waffle and Shenpai an Alakazam named The Guy.
  3. 9:07With Poké Balls acquired, the challenge rules officially begin and the pair make their first linked catches.

  5. 19:30A woodland battle becomes alarming when an opposing Octillery unleashes Origin Pulse.

Shenpai's Cottonee faints, and RTGame loses a Pokémon without taking a hit. That is the particularly unforgiving bargain behind their Soul Link adventure: every captured creature is paired with one on the other player's team. Lose either, and both must go.

Their edited livestream playthrough of Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby has drawn about 243,000 views since yesterday. It packages the journey through Hoenn into a single upload, with RT playing Alpha Sapphire and Shenpai taking Omega Ruby.

The complications stack up quickly. Nuzlocke rules limit catches to the first encounter on each route and make fainting permanent. A randomiser scrambles encounters, opponents, items and moves, so recognising a Pokémon does not mean knowing what it can do. As RT puts it: "If one of them dies, they both die."

Even the starter selection is unreliable. RT chooses a Dunsparce preview and receives Mareep instead, naming it Waffle; Shenpai gets an Alakazam called The Guy. Viewers have made the unlikely Mareep arrival a talking point, alongside the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon-style reaction images accompanying the pair's voices.

The Cottonee incident shows how quickly a harmless-looking training session can unravel. Its Metronome produces Final Gambit, sacrificing itself and costing RT his Gothorita too. Later, an opposing Octillery produces Kyogre's signature Origin Pulse, turning an ordinary woodland encounter into a panic.

The upload's chapter list carries the adventure onward through the hideout, the Elite Four and the Delta Episode. But the opening already establishes the essential problem: neither player can keep a team alive entirely on their own.

The numbers

The Pokémon playthrough added about 243,000 views since yesterday. Its appeal here is the shared-risk adventure, rather than an unusually fast start for RTGame.
