Hell on Wheels' Cullen Bohannon, billed as 'just like John Marston'
Rock Movie's month-old western edit has its comment section asking for the show's name and arguing over which Red Dead hero Anson Mount really resembles.
Why this story? The video is running at 83,282 views a day, 16 times its usual pace (5,104).

Posted on September 7, the short spent most of a month drawing a few thousand views a day, the ordinary life of a clip on Rock Movie. Now it has passed 200,000 views and is picking up many times its old daily pace, without any new push from the title or the channel.
The clip comes from Hell on Wheels, the western drama that ran for five seasons from 2011 and followed the building of the first transcontinental railroad after the Civil War. Its center is Anson Mount as Cullen Bohannon, a former Confederate soldier with a gun on his hip and very little patience. The description also lists Colm Meaney, Common and Dominique McElligott. The title compares Bohannon to John Marston, the outlaw at the heart of Red Dead Redemption, and that line is doing much of the talking.
Many of the newcomers simply want to know what show this is, and one guesses John Carter. Others push back on the comparison: one says Bohannon is closer to Arthur Morgan, the lead of Red Dead Redemption 2, and another calls him a completely original character. Some recognize Mount as Captain Pike from Star Trek. There is a running joke about Common turning up wherever he likes, and longtime fans pass on their verdict that the show was great, though the ending was only lukewarm.
Rock Movie is a clips channel that cuts scenes from films and series into After Effects edits, and lately it has spent much of its time with Sons of Anarchy. Its overall day is running below its usual level, and much of the recent attention has gone to a revenge edit from October 1 that has passed two million views. The cowboy from September is now part of that attention too.
