A savage Hulk and a frightened Peter Parker in MovieGasm's Brand New Day clip

The comment section under the Spider-Man: Brand New Day fight is busy with the Hulk's design, a reflection in a pane of glass and a nod some viewers trace back to Spider-Man 3.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 807,538 views a day, 12 times a normal first day on this channel (67,178).

Who comes out on top when Spider-Man runs into the Hulk? Under MovieGasm's newest clip, viewers care less about the result than about the green giant himself.

The scene is a short cut from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth Spider-Man film with Tom Holland as Peter Parker, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The description bills it as a clash between two of Marvel's most powerful heroes that tears through the city. Eleven hours after it went up, it had passed half a million views. The comments also came in far faster than they usually do on this channel's short clips, many hundreds of them in under half a day.

The most liked ones are about the Hulk's look. Many call it the best this version of the character has ever looked, and some spot a touch of the 2008 film in the design. Others point to a close-up of Peter's eyes behind the mask, wide with fear. One moment has started its own small debate: the Hulk catching sight of himself in glass, which viewers read either as him realizing he is hurting a friend or as him seeing that people only ever cared about Banner. A few think one beat with the hero fumbling during the fight echoes the engagement ring scene in Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 3, and a running joke has the Hulk checking that Thanos is nowhere nearby before he lets loose.

MovieGasm is a clips and trailers channel, and Marvel has carried a lot of its recent weeks. As we reported here, an extended Avengers: Doomsday trailer passed two million views on the channel at the end of September. A final trailer for Visionquest followed on October 1, alongside game cinematics for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV and The Expanse. This is the first full fight scene in that run.

  • I ❤️ that Monster Hulk’s design had a bit of the 2008 version. Also, the terrified close-up of Peter’s eyes in the mask was excellent.

Some viewers see a hint of the 2008 Hulk in the new design. Who played Bruce Banner in 2008's The Incredible Hulk?
