When a debate moderator asks who believes state-owned media are biased against them, raises his hand. Asked what he would do about it, he turns to the boards and charters that govern public broadcasting.

RNZ posted the footage on Thursday, but the on-screen "YOUR VOTE 2023" graphic identifies it as an earlier election debate, not a fresh exchange from the 2026 campaign.

"Well, one of those two is biased against me and my leader," Jones says after the moderator names Radio New Zealand and TVNZ. He does not specify which broadcaster he means.

Jones argues that public funding should come with safeguards against institutional bias, and that current affairs should serve all New Zealanders rather than special interest groups. The excerpt presents his allegation and proposed response; it does not examine particular examples of coverage.

The clip drew about 9,000 views since yesterday, making it RNZ's most-watched new upload over that period. Its description credits TVNZ, whose debate footage supplies the exchange.
