The jury returned guilty verdicts on four charges and acquitted Russell Brand on three others. The comedian and actor was taken into custody after the trial at Southwark Crown Court.
BBC News correspondent Adina Campbell delivers the verdict outside the court, before Lucy Hockings introduces a background report tracing the case through archive footage and interviews with former associates. The jury reached its decisions after roughly eight and a half hours of deliberations following a four-week trial.
The charges concerned six women and dated from 1999 to 2009. All six women are entitled to lifelong anonymity. Brand was convicted of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
The breaking report drew nearly 690,000 views in its opening 13 hours, already well beyond the channel's usual first-day audience for regular videos. BBC News also followed the verdict with a Newscast discussion examining how the trial unfolded.
Returning to Campbell outside court, the report establishes the next step: "We have been told that sentencing will happen on Monday."
