Squirtle wants out of PeachMonkey's Pokémon Tower visit

Two new sketches take the channel from Lavender Town's ghosts to Scorpion taking bachata night too seriously.

When Your Pokémon Is Too Scared to Battle

Squirtle has reservations. PeachMonkey's trainer walks into Pokémon Tower delighted with the surroundings, while his blue-and-yellow-onesie companion immediately suggests leaving.

That disagreement supplies the setup for "When Your Pokémon Is Too Scared to Battle", the most-watched of PeachMonkey's two new uploads. Playing both trainer and Squirtle, the creator recreates the game's dialogue boxes and battle announcement, then gives the familiar Water Gun command an unusually unhelpful response: "I can't, man, I'm too scared!" It's a Pokémon parody in which knowing your attack moves doesn't necessarily mean you're prepared to use them.

The other arrival, "When Your Gamer Friend Takes Dancing Too Seriously", moves the gaming joke onto the dance floor. The description puts Mortal Kombat's Scorpion at bachata night, while PeachMonkey is simply there for the food. Though it has fewer total views than the Tower sketch, it's currently picking them up faster.

Neither new upload is the channel's busiest attraction right now. "Trading Pokémon with That One Friend", featuring Greg Renko and a promised Charizard return, has reached about 1.3 million views and carries the most daily momentum. The more recent card-collecting parody is also finding viewers with its comparison of casual play and painstaking booster-pack handling.

Subscribers held at two million over the week, while daily viewing is well below its usual pace. Nearby sketch channels had busier weeks: 1980sGamer is drawing slightly above its typical daily viewing, while Caleb Natale, like PeachMonkey, is running substantially quieter than usual.
