Oliur's iPhone Duo trial ends with a return to Pro

The matte inner screen impresses, but cameras, unlocking and software compromises complicate his only new review of the week.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Things we can learn from the video

Press to jump

  1. 1:21The passport-style shape brings an asymmetrical corner design and awkward top-edge button placement.
  2. 3:19The hinge opens onto a matte inner display that Oliur says hides the crease effectively.
  3. 5:24Split-screen multitasking offers flexibility, but X and TikTok show app-layout problems.
  4. 6:34The keyboard offers full and split layouts, but lacks the floating option Oliur wants.
  5. 9:41Touch ID feels less convenient to Oliur than Face ID, and the cameras disappoint compared with his Pro.
  6. 12:02Hardware and software compromises lead Oliur to say he will return to his iPhone 18 Pro.

The crease isn't the problem. In "iPhone Duo - Apple folded.", Oliur praises the matte inner display for hiding the fold, then finds plenty of other reasons to miss his iPhone 18 Pro.

His only upload this week has reached roughly 92,000 views. After using the Duo as his main phone, he works through the details that make a folding device either useful or awkward: top-edge buttons, split-screen apps, a cramped keyboard and fingerprint unlocking. The titanium build earns a sturdy endorsement, but the camera setup brings his clearest disappointment. By the end, he says he will switch back to the Pro, a decision he hadn't wanted to make.

The comments offer a useful counterpoint rather than a single verdict. Some owners describe the larger canvas replacing an iPad mini or making work on the move easier. Others discuss waiting for app layouts and software to improve. A few take a different kind of interest in the review's ambient music, a small reminder that the presentation is part of the appeal here too.

The Duo review now supplies the channel's strongest daily viewing momentum, followed by October's old-TV upgrade and September's iPhone camera-settings guide. Across the channel, subscribers held steady while daily views are running at about half their usual pace. Nearby gadget channels have had varied weeks: Andrew Bond and Andrew Ethan Zeng drew substantially more weekly views, while Giaco Whatever was quiet.

Camera settings have supplied several of Oliur's most-watched tutorials. Here, it is the camera compromise, rather than the novelty of a folding screen, that helps send him back to his previous phone.

  • I wanted the Duo till I held and played with it physically. I have the iPhone Air and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Honestly I’ll definitely upgrade to the air 2 and wait and see what the duo 2 brings.

  • Lowkey considering going back to Fold8... but we need to still give the Duo a bit of time to optimize just like the Fold8.

  • I wouldn’t assume Touch ID was chosen purely as a solution to a space issue, but also a usability issue. You have to have 2 FaceID systems: one on the outside, and one on the inside. You could argue this is a space issue, but it could also be a cost issue and a weight issue too.

  • I like my duo. had it for about a week; I am used to the hand gestures and contortion that I need to do . I do prefer the smaller screen for my day to day - it limits my phone addiction in a way and then the big screen is just great for coding in claude. battery life is amazing. Ultimately it's the most fun phone ive used since the first iphone. honestly.
  • The issue with handoff too is that, especially internationally, WhatsApp and similar apps would have to update its software so that you could switch between them too. Because switching between phones is tedious and not worth it as it is in my opinion
