You Betcha's first truck needs duct tape and a dashboard slap
The wordless pickup sketch has reached nearly half a million views, with viewers swapping memories of their own temperamental trucks.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Every Midwesterners First Truck
You Betcha introduces a green pickup by breaking a piece of rusted metal off above the wheel well. It is less a sales pitch than an inventory of everything its owner has learned to live with.
In "Every Midwesterners First Truck," the door needs a determined yank, the tailgate puts up its own resistance, and starting the engine involves a routine topped off with a dashboard slap. An aftermarket screen provides a little modernity. Duct tape handles the interior trim. The sketch needs no dialogue: each defect gets its own on-screen introduction.
It was the most watched of You Betcha's two uploads this week, reaching nearly half a million views. Underneath, viewers are supplying the unofficial owner's manual. They remember steering wheels taped back together, tailgates that refused to open and floors with a view of the pavement. Several say the experience travels well beyond the Midwest, particularly to the South.
The other new upload, "Types of Hunters at Deer Camp," keeps the channel in familiar outdoor territory. It is currently picking up views faster than the truck sketch, although the older "Hunters Now vs The 80's" has the most momentum of the three active uploads highlighted here. "Explaining Why Old Trucks Are the Best" is also continuing to draw viewers, giving the battered pickup some company.
Across the channel, daily views are more than twice their usual level, and the week brought 10,000 additional subscribers. Among nearby sketch channels, dinocornel also had a busy week, while Johnny Carey's was quieter. You Betcha's own week paired deer-camp characters with a truck whose starting instructions could never fit on a key ring.

I couldnt even open the tailgate😂
@casual4723See it on YouTubeI had to actually build fenders out of great stuff foam and duct tape so I could hide the rusty reality with fender flares 😂😂😂
@we.r.wine.bottles.im.at.work.See it on YouTubeMy first truck which I still have here in Wisconsin. It has door a tailgate issues and a weird aftermarket radio, not necessarily any duck tape but there are zip ties, and no trick to starting it. It is insanely rusty
@MAKESHIFTFARMsSee it on YouTubeI had a rusty 73 Chevolet Cheyenne Super, with a 454 big block, I bought it for $800 in the early 2000's. The interior was still really nice. I loved that old truck.
