NileRed's color changing mercury outruns his air-into-alcohol trick
Nothing new went up, and two summer chemistry videos five days apart in age are still carrying the channel, with the mercury one clearly ahead.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Making color changing mercury
NileRed posted nothing new over the past seven days, and the channel hardly seemed to notice. Two videos from the summer are doing the work, and they arrived close together: "Turning air into alcohol" first, then "Making color changing mercury" five days later.
The younger one is the busier of the pair. At 48 days old, the mercury video is gathering views about a third faster than the alcohol video, even though the older upload has already passed ten million views and the mercury one has yet to get there.
Further back sits "Mixing sodium and potassium is crazy," well over a year old and the biggest of the three by a wide margin. It moves at a gentler pace now, but it has not stopped.
Among the science and experiment channels, NileRed sits third of nine by subscribers, behind The Slow Mo Guys and SmarterEveryDay, with AsapSCIENCE just a step below. A week without uploads left that neighborhood as it was, and the mercury kept changing color for a steady crowd.
