Four Salvadoran mechanics are missing after a gang attack on an armored vehicle in Haiti, South Korea's Korean Broadcasting System (KBS News) reports. The attack is a central thread in its compilation examining the dangers facing both international security forces and civilians.

The broadcaster reports that is sending armored vehicles, helicopters and more than 2,000 troops for rescue and anti-gang operations. Its accompanying account says it remains unclear whether that deployment will join the UN-backed or operate separately.

According to the report, the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting over increasing attacks on the international force and called for the missing personnel's safe release. A planned expansion of the force has been only partly implemented because of shortages including funding, the broadcaster says.

The civilian crisis extends beyond Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital. The compilation reports indiscriminate shootings and arson in western rural communities, alongside displacement on a vast scale: around 1.5 million people have fled their homes. Haitian independent journalist Harold Isaac points to arms smuggling as a source of the gangs' increased firepower.

UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric says: "This attack underscores the gravity of the security situation faced by the Haitian population."

The political timetable is slipping too. Citing Reuters, the broadcaster says the first presidential round, legislative elections and a constitutional referendum have moved from December to July 18, 2027, with a presidential runoff scheduled for October 4. The electoral commission says the revised calendar is intended to let participants fulfill their legal obligations and sustain electoral activities.

The video combines reports from several dates rather than showing a single unfolding operation. An earlier segment recounts the end of the and the transfer of authority to Prime Minister . Together, the reports show the linked problems confronting Haiti: restoring civilian security, sustaining outside assistance and creating conditions in which an election can take place.
