A man leaves a golf-course restaurant table, and the activity around his coffee begins. Security footage shows two men returning to the table: one watches the surroundings while the other pulls the drink closer, opens its lid and puts something inside before replacing the straw.
South Korea's Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) reports that the footage was recorded at a golf course in Gyeonggi-do in July. According to the report, investigators detected psychoactive drug substances in the coffee.
The broadcaster says three suspects divided their roles in a scheme to impair another player's performance during a round of golf played for money. After consuming the drug, the victim continued playing despite diminished athletic ability, the report says. He ultimately lost the bet and transferred 75 million won to the group.
Seoul Namdaemun Police Station referred all three suspects to prosecutors on suspicion of fraud and violations of the country's drug-control law, according to the report. The video credits the police station with providing the footage.
