Aaj Tak LIVE TV: INDIA Alliance Rally | Rahul Gandhi | PM Modi | Gyanesh Kumar | BJP | Hindi News
India's ruling BJP is taking its response to the opposition's Delhi rally to Hyderabad, with a march billed as an effort to save democracy and remove anarchy, according to India's Hindi-language news channel Aaj Tak.
The channel's rolling bulletin says Home Minister Amit Shah is due to lead the afternoon procession. It presents the planned march as a response to opposition protests against the Election Commission and SIR, the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, which are the lists of people eligible to vote.
In Delhi, the opposition INDIA alliance gathered at Ramlila Maidan to challenge the government and election authorities. The Congress-led coalition's demands include the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, according to the channel's accompanying rally coverage. Opposition leaders have alleged electoral manipulation; those allegations are not established by the broadcast's description.
The BJP's response also challenges the rally's scale. The bulletin says the party circulated drone images to portray the gathering as poorly attended. That is the party's characterization, rather than an independently established assessment of turnout.
Rahul Gandhi, Congress's leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, India's lower house of Parliament, is among the leading figures in the Delhi mobilization. The alliance opposes Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP-led government.
The live upload drew about 729,000 views since yesterday. Unlike the channel's dedicated rally feeds, this is a rolling national and international news bulletin, with the Delhi protest and the planned Hyderabad response leading its advertised coverage.
