Bizarre call led them to a horrific crime scene

MrBallen's channel has passed three billion lifetime views, a total built one strange, dark and mysterious story at a time. John Allen, the former Navy SEAL behind the name, kept to that formula with four uploads, and one of them stepped outside the usual frame.

"EXCLUSIVE LOOK at my 3rd Graphic Novel THE TERROR WITHIN" is a preview rather than a story, the latest sign that his storytelling now reaches well beyond the narration chair. It drew most of its views on its first day, which suggests his audience was waiting for it.

The rest of the week was familiar ground, told plainly. "Bizarre call led them to a horrific crime scene" pairs two murder investigations, one opening with a grandmother's phone call that makes no sense. "Small town police officer never came home" follows detectives after an officer is shot before sunrise. Then came "They faced death… and walked away," four survival stories, from a sudden storm to a dispatcher's impossible distress call. Ten hours in, it was already the fastest-moving video on the channel.

The older work has not gone quiet either. "How He Solved An 11-Year Cold Case....", eight days old, has passed three and a half million views and is still drawing a heavy daily crowd.

Among true crime and courts channels of similar size, Dr Insanity, LegalEagle and Kallmekris are all running above their usual pace, while Law&Crime Network is a little quieter than normal.
