"I think I have been a crewmate 15 rounds in a row," LazarBeam complains in the opening seconds of "SIDEMEN AMONG US IMPOSTOR CHAT IS BACK". He doesn't wait much longer. A minute later he, Harry and Chipfat are the Impostors, sharing a secret voice channel, and the Australian creator has a plan: "All right, let's just stab them all, hey?"

Among Us is home ground for MoreSidemen. Three of the channel's most watched regular videos are variations on it, from a time-rewinding version to one that adds a new role every game, so a revived format draws a crowd. This one passed roughly 900,000 views in its first nine hours, and it already had nearly twice the comments of a usual first day.

The twist is in the title: the Impostors can talk to each other mid-match while everyone else guesses. Players first draft custom roles, with cards such as Sheriff, Time Lord, Warlock and, in the second game, Medusa, Blackmailer and something called Daddy Hagrid. Josh lands Sheriff and immediately talks himself down: "I shouldn't shoot. I shouldn't shoot."

The technology does not always cooperate. Chipfat, who also edited the video, drops out of the first round, and later Tobi's game crashes, leaving Danny Aarons to carry the Impostor work alone. When LazarBeam picks the Plumber role, he produces an actual custom plunger on camera and calls it "the world's most expensive plunger."

Simon, Ethan and the guests Lachlan and George Clarkey complete the lobby. In the comments, the final round gets the most attention: Harry digging himself deeper while Ethan can barely stop laughing, and Harry's turn as Puppeteer.
