Mentour Pilot examines Jet2's stormy landing at Birmingham
Runway footage anchors one of two new uploads, alongside a reconstruction of El Al Flight 1862's final minutes.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Storm Pushes Plane OFF the Runway!?
The landing doesn't end at touchdown. In Mentour Pilot's "Storm Pushes Plane OFF the Runway!?", a Jet2 Boeing 737-800 bounces, veers left onto the grass verge and eventually reaches a parallel taxiway, where it stops for safety inspections.
The Venice-Birmingham flight encountered strong crosswinds during Storm Boelo. Using landing footage credited to Airport Action, the host explains crabbing, the angled approach pilots use to counter the wind, and the correction needed before touchdown. He then examines the visible rudder movements, while leaving the unanswered questions to the official investigation.
That short analysis was the most watched of the week's two uploads, reaching roughly 566,000 views. Saturday's longer investigation, "I Don't Even Want To Think About This… | The Final Minutes Of El Al Flight 1862", had already drawn about 262,000 views in its first twelve hours. It reconstructs the 1992 cargo flight that crashed into flats in Amsterdam, and is currently attracting the most daily viewing in the channel's catalogue.
Across the channel, subscribers were unchanged over the week, while today's viewing is well below the usual daily pace. Nearby in aviation, Just Planes added subscribers but is also seeing slower-than-usual daily viewing; PeterSripol's subscriber count held steady, with viewing slightly above its normal pace.
Beyond the new uploads, Mentour Pilot's Swissair 551 investigation remains active: its account of smoke filling an MD-81 cockpit is drawing almost as much daily viewing as the Birmingham landing analysis.
