Lasercorn brings Minecraft's destructive streak to Skyrim

His mod-mashup review tests Pokémon Redstone too, then questions how long the novelty lasts.

  2. 1:53The Skyrim mashup adds Steve, Minecraft building and combat mechanics to Tamriel.

  4. 8:43More complicated console-mod setups are why he skips testing additional mashups.
  5. 9:12His verdict: the mashups offer quick amusement, but their novelty soon becomes repetitive.

Lasercorn tries building in Skyrim, but demolition proves more tempting. TNT, a Wither and buckets of lava turn his mod-mashup test into a fairly thorough stress test of the scenery. "Why build when I can destroy things?" he asks.

There were no new uploads on The Lasercorn Channel this week. Instead, October's "Modded Game Mashups are Taking Over - Are they Good Though?" is drawing the most daily views among its active videos. It puts Steve and Minecraft mechanics inside Skyrim before trying Pokémon Redstone, a browser-based blend of Pokémon and two-dimensional Minecraft.

The verdict is less enthusiastic than the village destruction might suggest. Lasercorn finds the mashups amusing as quick diversions, but repetitive beyond that initial surprise. He also warns about downloading community mods and explains why he stopped short of setting up more complicated console mashups.

It's familiar territory for a channel whose most-watched regular upload is "Attack on Titan Minecraft Mod," with roughly 3.4 million views. "MineCraft Plus Portal Gun Equals Awesome!" belongs to that same well-established habit of putting one game's toys into another game's world.

Viewing is quieter now: the channel added about 6,000 views over the week, subscribers stayed unchanged, and its daily viewing is running at around half its usual level. Nearby variety-gaming channels javeus and slurpy each drew more than a million weekly views. Here, the smaller stream of viewing also includes "Why Lasercorn Left Smosh Games" and the Griffith Park ghost-hunting outing with Jovenshire.
