John Anderson spent the first half of his week back in the Howard years, at least in spirit. Peter Costello, who was Treasurer for almost the whole time Anderson served as Deputy Prime Minister, turns up in three of the channel's twelve uploads. Two are about interest rates and one is about Net Zero, and the descriptions call them historical clips from an earlier conversation. The first, on the real cost of rising rates, is the most watched upload of the week at more than a hundred thousand views. Its comment section has largely become an argument about Canberra's spending, with doctors' bills and calls to bring Costello back in the mix.
Friday changed the guest list. John Cleese, of Monty Python and Fawlty Towers, appeared in a short on the irony of multiculturalism. Katy Faust, founder of the children's rights group Them Before Us, appeared in a clip about feminism and young women. Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, the royal commentator and New Culture Forum fellow, sat down for a full conversation that runs from cousin marriage and Protestantism to Gramsci, Denmark and whether Britain can still be governed. Those three Friday uploads are the ones moving fastest now, with Cleese just ahead.
The channel as a whole ran a little below its usual pace, and about a thousand new subscribers arrived. Among the political talk channels of similar size, that put it in the middle of the group. Dan Wootton and Hawk had much larger weeks, while Andrew Klavan's was a quiet one.
