Mckenna Grace reveals the clip-ins behind her Maysilee bangs

IMDb's Hunger Games interview turns a compliment to the hair team into a confession, with Taylor Swift part of the inspiration.

Mckenna Grace on Her 'Sunrise on the Reaping' Bangs

Mckenna Grace reaches for her co-star's hand before breaking the news. The interviewer has just praised the team responsible for keeping her bangs perfect during filming. There is a fairly practical explanation: "They were fake."

The straight-across fringe she wears as Maysilee Donner in Sunrise on the Reaping was clipped in each morning. Grace wanted that particular look for the character, but her own hair had other ideas.

"I want those perfect straight-across Taylor Swift bangs," she explains. An intense cowlick and her natural part wouldn't let them lie flat, so the film's hair team supplied the alternative. Grace also says the Maysilee look brought a fan film to mind, a small nod to the character's life in fans' imaginations before this production.

The IMDb Short passed 41,000 views in eight hours, already far beyond the channel's usual full-day audience of roughly 2,300 for Shorts. Its appeal is a very specific behind-the-scenes reveal, delivered with the ceremony of a much bigger secret.

Viewers are comparing their own struggles with cowlicks, joking about how she displays the clip-ins and, in one case, planning bangs for a trip to the theater. Back in the interview, her co-star joins in by pretending his own hair isn't real either. Grace gives her confession a mock-grand label: "IMDb exclusive."
