Pizza and s'mores enter Ian Fujimoto's sandwich experiment

Two new uploads pair homemade Uncrustables-style flavors with a detailed fried-chicken and biscuit lesson.

Inventing 3 BRAND NEW flavors 😏Inventing 3 BRAND NEW flavors 😏

Peanut butter cinnamon banana, pepperoni pizza and cinnamon toast s'mores: Ian Fujimoto has a few additions in mind for the crustless-sandwich aisle. His "Inventing 3 BRAND NEW flavors 😏" has passed two million views, making it the most-watched of his two uploads this week and the channel's busiest video right now.

The description addresses Uncrustables directly, but the comments are busy developing the menu. Viewers imagine deep-frying the s'mores version, suggest a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast filling, and compare the pizza idea with campfire sandwich-press cooking. One practical request cuts through the flavor brainstorming: put the ingredients on screen so the narration's jokes don't leave anyone guessing.

His other upload takes a much more methodical route to comfort food. "The Secret to Crispy Fried Chicken at Home" covers breaking down a whole chicken, buttermilk brining, biscuits and Fresno chili hot honey. Fujimoto promises chicken that stays crisp an hour after frying, with a second fry among the steps. He also makes room for oil-fire safety and what to do with the used oil, less glamorous than the taste test, but useful parts of the same meal.

The channel added roughly 30,000 subscribers over the week, although daily viewing is currently below its usual pace. Among nearby cooking channels, The Plant Slant had a particularly large viewing week, while James Hoffmann and Downshiftology had quieter totals.

Fujimoto's previous "The Secret to Chinese Takeout at Home" also remains a substantial draw. Its egg fried rice, vegetable chow mein and beef and broccoli put technique behind the takeout order, including how to avoid soggy noodles and velvet an affordable cut of beef.

  • Okay so in the Midwest we make "pudgy pies" which are essentially pizza uncrustables over a fire pit! You buy this sandwich press thing on a pole and stick it right in the coals. You could probably do this over charcoal as well. We also sometimes do pie filling and top with powdered sugar.

  • Have you considered throwing the ingredients (or general description) in subtitles or caption, in case we can't exactly tell what you're using? I didn't get that #3 was s'mores until reading someone's comment. Your narration is always entertaining, but not always informative. Thanks. ❤️🙏
  • Okay, as a fellow uncrustables enjoyer, I would love to eat all three of those you created, Ian
