Long Buckby, not London: GeoWizard's coin-foraging walk reaches its finale
Tom Davies set out from his front door in July to live only on money found on the ground, and the last episode tells how far he got and what went wrong.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
How far did I walk from my house surviving purely from coins i found on the ground? [COINS FINALE]
Twenty-six days ago, Tom Davies asked a question most people he pitched it to thought was ridiculous: how far could he walk from his house living only on coins found on the ground, in 2026, when hardly anyone carries cash? The finale went up on September 28 and is the channel's one upload of the week.
It opens in good shape, the description says: 43 miles walked, more than six pounds in his pocket, food and water in the bag. By the end, things are less rosy. He calls it one of his all-time favorite adventures, and the comments fill in the rest. London stayed out of reach, and the walk ended at Long Buckby in Northamptonshire, about 70 miles in three days. Viewers keep returning to a night on cardboard in a bandstand with a jar of pâté, a quid found at a food warehouse that played like a video game side quest, a Bear Grylls impression and the moment he paid a cashier from cupped hands. One viewer in Newcastle reports a month of casual treasure hunting since the premiere. Several want a sequel that starts where this one stopped.
In five days the finale has passed half a million views, and it is the busiest video on the channel. The drive-thru episode, which went hunting for change around Coventry and beyond, comes next, and Part 1 has passed 1.7 million. The channel as a whole is running right at its usual pace.
Among travel channels around his size, Tyler Morgan's Japan adventures are having an enormous week, and TayBrice and Expedia are running at about double their usual pace. GeoWizard is steady, and Tom has already promised an important update in the next video.
