The person accused of Ann Widdecombe's murder now faces a terror charge too
GB News' short breaking report says the charge covers conduct aimed at Nigel Farage, and it passed 120,000 views within eight hours.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 227,831 views a day, 44 times a normal first day on this channel (5,189).
BREAKING: Person alleged to have murdered Ann Widdecombe has been charged with preparing terror acts
"BREAKING: Person alleged to have murdered Ann Widdecombe has been charged with preparing terror acts" is a brief news report on GB News. According to its description, the same person is accused of preparing a terrorist act against Nigel Farage, the Reform UK leader.
The description says Counter Terrorism Policing confirmed one count of engaging in conduct in preparation of acts of terrorism, under the Terrorism Act 2006. The alleged activity is said to cover a long stretch, from May 2024 to July 2026, and to include the MP among its targets. The report adds no more than that, and nothing has been tested in court.
The clip went up on Friday. Eight hours later it had passed 120,000 views. A new GB News video usually ends its first day at around 5,000, so this one moved more than forty times faster than usual. The comments, already in the hundreds, return to a few questions: whether the accused could be released on bail, and what security Farage now has. Many simply leave a few words in memory of Widdecombe.
It was not the channel's only quick start that day. The full Friday edition of Patrick Christys Tonight drew far more than a usual GB News upload, and so did a shorter clip of Christys arguing that King Charles should refuse demands for slavery reparations. Neither came near the breaking report, which drew more viewers in eight hours than either of them.
