Tyrese knows ball and Avengers

Signing cards does not stop Tyrese Maxey from giving a superhero casting question his full attention. Asked which Avengers the Sixers starters would be, he saves the armored suit for himself: "Iron Man is going to be me, you know."

The short, shared on Fanatics under the title "Tyrese knows ball and Avengers", added about 20,000 views in a day, accounting for nearly all its views so far. That is a sharp acceleration after a comparatively modest opening day.

Maxey's casting puts LeBron James in Captain America's role and Jaylen Brown in Thor's. For Brown, the explanation is versatility: "He's like our Swiss Army knife to where he can do everything." Player faces appear over the Marvel characters, turning his answers into an improvised superhero poster.

V.J. Edgecombe gets both Black Widow and Hawkeye. Maxey emphasizes sacrifice and importance, a combination that prompted one viewer to unpack the comparison as a talented player accepting a smaller role for the team. Other discussion gets into the Avengers' own absences and Captain America's willingness to confront Thanos alone.

The Hulk question needs little deliberation. Maxey immediately chooses Embiid: "Joel Embiid, man. Just unstoppable."

What viewers say

Correlating VJ’s role to Black Widow’s sacrifice was actually a really good comparison. VJ is a dude who’s ready to step into a bigger role on the team. But that’s not gunna happen this year. They need him to take a back seat for now. For a young, talented kid like VJ, having to do that is definitely a sacrifice. Very smart comparison. I’m impressed
