Rome lives on in America? Drew Durnil's newest map question takes off

Thirteen uploads went up, from European capitals to cities older than the United States, with Frank Sanchez, Natan Sanchez and Aidan Brockie credited on the edit.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Europe Is WEAK Without Its Capital Cities?!Europe Is WEAK Without Its Capital Cities?!

What happens to Europe if you take away its capital cities? That was one of the questions Drew Durnil put to his map-loving audience, and it became the week's biggest video, closing in on 400,000 views five days after it went up.

It was one of thirteen uploads, nearly all of them built the way the channel likes them: a bold claim in the title, a question mark or two at the end, and Drew reacting to the map. One asks whether European countries have always been Muslim. Another looks for American cities that are older than America itself, which takes in the Spanish settlement of St. Augustine, Florida, founded in 1565. A pair on economic development started with one man's view of the world and then went to a ranking that, by its own title, went wrong.

The freshest of them is doing the most work. "The Roman Empire Never Died… It Became America?!" is less than a day old and already gathering views faster than anything else on the channel. Its tags suggest it weighs the old argument about which modern power counts as Rome's heir. A Europe-and-Islam video from two days earlier is moving at about the same pace as the capital cities one.

Overall, the channel is running a touch above its usual daily views. Among the explainer and history channels nearest its size, only Horses draws more on a typical day, while Fall of Civilizations and The People Profiles are running well under their usual pace.
