Chunkz has a problem with his gourmet tuna sandwich: it hasn't come with chips. After sesame crusting, melted cheese and homemade remoulade, he still thinks the plate needs something extra.

The question isn't simply whether they can make something fancy. It's whether the upgrades can replace the originals in their owners' affections.

Niko Omilana's instant rice and tinned mackerel become egg-fried rice with a gochujang-spiced glaze. AJ Shabeel's sausage, bread and ketchup get a toasted brioche-style base, slow-cooked peppers and onions. AJ finds something to question before tasting: the decision to serve his meal on a black plate.

Kenny brings Agege bread with salad cream and a Milo drink. Sydney and Chunkz answer with a three-cheese grilled sandwich, olive tapenade, caramelised onions and a microwave lava cake. "Olive tapenade, what is that?" Kenny asks.

Sharky isn't there to defend his tea and bread with sugar, so Kenny steps in for the tasting. Its replacement is a bread and butter pudding infused with black tea and served with salted caramel sauce, keeping the original combination recognisable beneath the restaurant treatment.
