'First guy deserves an oscar': a scream viewers compare to goats and supervillains

The clip is a prank built on one very loud voice, and the comments split their praise between the two men in it.

First guy deserves an oscar

A new short on Videos that make your day better usually ends its first day somewhere around 74,000 views. "First guy deserves an oscar" passed five and a half million in under a day, and its likes ran past a hundred thousand.

This is a clips channel: it re-edits other people's videos, and the title does not say who filmed this one. What it shows is a prank with two men and a scream. The comments do most of the describing. Viewers compare the scream to a goat, a strangled chicken and a cartoon supervillain. Others pick holes in the trick: if the point is to fool the man, why ask him out loud whether he can hear them, instead of just moving their lips? One viewer notices that the screaming stops and starts again on cue. A few think the real performance belongs to the man inside, not the one the title crowns.

It was not the channel's only big upload that day. "The silence speaks louder 😂" and a clip about Santa's presents and the Grinch's "trauma" were each on course for a seven-figure first day, two more were not far behind, and the channel added some 38,000 subscribers over the week. By the next morning it had moved on to kitchen jokes: "How I expect my husband to react to my cooking 😂" was already past a quarter of a million.
