Video surging 19x the video's usual pace

'Lost He's Dog' finds its audience on Royalty Boiz, two weeks late

The clips channel's other dog short, from the Jordan Matter side of its feed, is climbing again on the same day, and the comments read like a stack of get-well cards.

Why this story? The video is running at 66,465 views a day, 19 times its usual pace (3,554).

Royalty Boiz posted "Ferran Lost He's Dog #royaltyfamily" on September 17, and for two weeks it behaved like most of the channel's shorts. Then it took off, and it now sits at around 700,000 views.

It did not take off alone. "Salish tried to keep the dog #jordanmatter", posted three days earlier and already the channel's best performer of the month, picked up speed on the same day and is closing in on 2.8 million. Dogs run through the whole of this channel's September: a puppy competition, a puppy that was not kept, and now a dog that has gone missing. Between those two climbing shorts, the channel is drawing nearly twice its usual daily views.

Royalty Boiz does not make the original videos. It cuts short clips around two family channels, The Royalty Family and Jordan Matter, and gives them its own titles and hashtags. Its about page also notes that parts of its voice-overs and visuals are AI-generated, so the clip is the channel's telling of the story, not the families' own upload.

The comments ignore all that. Viewers write as though they are talking straight to the young star of the title, saying sorry, hoping the dog comes home, and calling it by name. Several call the dog Gucci. A few remember dogs of their own that they have lost. One asks that the dog be wished a happy birthday once it turns up.
