'Hunting Down a Stolen Bike' sets Vilux's comments arguing about the police
The clips channel's newest short, credited to an Instagram account, follows a biker clip that is now close to a million views.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 1,038,873 views a day, 19 times a normal first day on this channel (54,659).

Among the clips channels close to its size, Vilux is the one running well above its usual pace, while most of the others nearby are drawing fewer views a day than they normally do. Only Car Builds pulls a bigger daily audience.
The newest reason is a short called "Hunting Down a Stolen Bike | @mizzaintgoing/IG". Like nearly everything on Vilux, it is someone else's footage. The description credits the Instagram account named in the title, and the channel describes itself as a home for real incidents involving law enforcement and crime. Here the subject is a bike owner tracking down a stolen bike. The short passed 670,000 views within 11 hours, on a channel where a new short usually finishes its whole first day in the tens of thousands.
The comment section moved even faster than the views. In those first hours it took in about five times as many comments as a usual Vilux short gets in a full day, and most of them keep coming back to one question: should the owner have called the police? The most liked replies say yes, and several point to how the people in the clip responded when they were confronted. A smaller group says they would have handled it the same way.
It arrives three days after "He Turned a Biker Into a Madman," the road clip that took over the channel, as we reported here, and that is now close to a million views. In between came "He Caught a Grenade While Fishing," so the stolen bike is the latest in a busy run of short real-life clips.
