Nine-letter words give Susie Dent a Channel 4 celebration
Jon Richardson, Lee Mack and Sara Pascoe supply the solves, while Taskmaster contestants confront the baffling Gregulator.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
No one loves a 9-letter solve as much as Susie Dent | 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown | Channel 4
Getting the longest word is only part of the reward. Channel 4 Entertainment's most-watched new upload makes Susie Dent's delighted response the occasion, collecting nine-letter triumphs from 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
The compilation has reached roughly 350,000 views. Its chapters move from Jon Richardson finally finding a nine-letter answer to Lee Mack surprising the panel, Sara Pascoe having her moment and Sean Lock demonstrating rather less restraint about his achievements. This is the clips channel putting an unusually specific pleasure under the spotlight: comedians briefly becoming very serious about letters.
Viewers are playing along, too. Several discuss their own answers, while one recalls encountering "steadings" through Mack's solve. Others pick up on the smaller absurdity of Dent confirming that "named" is indeed a word. Even a dictionary expert sometimes gets the easy questions.
The other new upload takes competence in a different direction. Taskmaster's sixth episode of series twenty-two asks contestants to score on the mysterious Gregulator, with Richard Ayoade threatening the set and Matt Lucas making what the description calls a massive green whoopsie. Greg Davies and Alex Horne oversee the confusion.
Across the channel, daily viewing is a little below its usual level, but subscribers grew by about 10,000 over the week. The nine-letter compilation is currently its busiest video, followed by the older "30 minutes of Sean Lock's BEST solves | 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown | Channel 4." That collection also leaves room for Claudia Winkleman taking charge of the numbers, a different route to the same panel-show chaos.

Still never heard the word ‘steadings’ outside of the context of Lee Mack getting it on Cats Does Countdown. That’s a proper niner!

15:10 - nobody wants to mention how Riley just casually arranges a 5-letter-word with the remainders as the 4-letter-word gets named?
@UlkomaalainenSee it on YouTubeI was really hoping that they had both gotten different 9 letter words at12:50. I would have loved to watch the episode this clip is from to know if Susie added 'creations' as one of the other(s).
