CBS Philadelphia's Madeleine Wright reports that the missing girl's mother confirmed the news to her by phone: the search for the ten-year-old had ended with the discovery of her body in New Jersey.

The station's Thursday broadcast cites law enforcement sources saying investigators found her in the trunk of a car in Camden County. In the studio, reporter Joe Holden explains that authorities had been directed to the location early that morning.

Wright's live reporting also shows community members gathering balloons for a memorial. A planned effort to distribute missing-person flyers had been canceled after the discovery.

The broadcast drew about 59,000 views in its first nine hours, an unusually large audience for one of the station's longer videos.

The investigation has since moved beyond the initial discovery report. In a separate Friday update, CBS Philadelphia reports that a murder charge has been filed in connection with the girl's death.
