Cadel and Mia's birthday sketch gives the cake no chance

Sunglasses, an unwanted mouthful and a disappearing cake turn a birthday pose into a rapid-fire comedy routine.

No. 49 on the daily chart

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 2,680,350 views a day, 7.1 times a normal first day on this channel (375,076).

It kept getting worse… 😳💀

Can Cadel even get as far as cutting his birthday cake? Cadel and Mia's sketch makes that modest ambition look increasingly unlikely.

He starts seated with a chocolate cake in his hands, its "Happy Birthday" topper suggesting a celebration rather more orderly than the one that follows. An off-camera hand puts sunglasses onto his face, then food is pushed into his mouth. Before he can settle into any of it, the cake is abruptly snatched away.

This is a staged comedy bit, not a birthday mishap caught by chance. There is no dialogue, just music and Cadel's increasingly startled reaction as the simple setup unravels.

The Short passed two million views in its first 15 hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day start for this format.

Viewers are picking apart the tiny indignities: the placement of the sunglasses, the cake's departure and Cadel's thwarted attempt to enjoy it. For all the activity around him, holding onto dessert proves the hardest part.
