Brad_Podray's study session has anime visitors and a Rickroll

Ten uploads include stand-user collaborations, but a coffee-shop study sketch supplies the week's biggest audience.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

A binder, a laptop and a self-imposed deadline make an innocent enough setup in "Studying til the girl behind me leaves." On Brad_Podray's channel, though, studying is only the foreground activity. Costumed characters wander and dance behind the student as the timer advances.

The staged comedy eventually reveals what has kept the other woman occupied: Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" playing on her laptop. The study challenge has become a Rickroll, with an anime-flavored distraction along the way.

That combination took a little time to travel. The upload drew a modest audience on its first day, but has since reached roughly 1.3 million views and is now the channel's busiest video. Viewers are picking apart the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure references in the background, while others imagine an endless stalemate in which each woman is studying until the other leaves. The unexpected Rickroll gets its own thread of recognition.

Stand users, the supernatural combatants associated with JoJo, recur across the week's collaborations with @TheAnimeMen, @neonxnash and @itsMarveljesus. The boxing-and-martial-arts sketch is another substantial new draw. Meanwhile, "Fake friend vs real friend vs stand user. @TheAnimeMen @babiibleu @monsterpoh @neonxnash," posted just before this week, remains the second-busiest upload right now.

Across the channel, the week brought nearly five million views, with today's viewing pace comfortably above usual even as subscribers stayed unchanged. Nearby in commentary, Joe Bartolozzi had a much larger viewing week, while Drew Gooden's was quieter. Brad_Podray's distinctive contribution was a study session whose background gave viewers almost as much to discuss as the reveal.
