blumineck finds the joy in doing archery the hard way
Four uploads bring mechanical bows, Addams Family cosplay and a D&D fight staged round by round.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
I just don’t get it! (But that’s ok)
David fires while swinging upside down from a tree, which makes a fairly persuasive case that efficiency isn't his only concern. In blumineck's most-watched upload of the week, a rapid-firing mechanical bow prompts a defence of doing things yourself, even when a contraption could do them faster.
"I just don't get it! (But that's ok)" has reached roughly 1.6 million views. After reacting to the device, David demonstrates his recurve bow, manual rapid shooting and a rolling shot. The practice isn't an inconvenience to eliminate: it's part of the pleasure. As he puts it, "but that time and training is part of the reason I love this".
Viewers offer an interesting counterpoint rather than simply choosing a side. Several describe designing and building an unnecessarily elaborate machine as its own rewarding hobby; others imagine the contraption belonging to a D&D artificer denied access to firearms.
Costumes supplied another strand of the four-upload week. "Addams Family relationship tips", tagged for Gomez and Morticia cosplay, passed a million views and is currently attracting the most daily viewing. "Learning a fun move in our Halloween costumes" follows nearby, while the older "The chainmail bikini actually makes sense?" remains among the channel's busiest uploads.
The audience grew by about 10,000 subscribers over the week, with daily viewing close to its usual level. Among nearby stunt-and-challenge channels, EmSwizzle also added subscribers, while Cold Ones had a quieter viewing spell.
David's newest project gives the fantasy play a longer format: "Turning D&D into a Live-Action fight scene" moves from character building and initiative into four rounds, each followed by a live-action version. Here, the rules get their own choreography.

@Wild_LupineSee it on YouTubeI gotta admit though, the mechanical clickTWUMP clickTHWUMP is very satisfying
@milabirch7356See it on YouTubeI think the reason the bow in the video exists more because some engineer said "hey, what if i made something funky?" And boy did it work

I get the fun in that contraption, but for me it wouldn't come *just* from shooting it. For me the real fun in something like that comes in the making and the designing. There's something charming in making something so utterly unnecessary, needlessly overcomplicated, but that just works soooo smoothly. As a mechanical engineering challenge it's excellent
