Blumineck tries on the chainmail bikini, and the comments quote Skyrim
David the Arrow Bard wears fantasy's most famous skimpy armor himself, and a bow is involved in finding out whether it works.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 1,944,440 views a day, 5.3 times a normal first day on this channel (364,155).
Testing the chainmail bikini
Does the most famous armor in fantasy art protect anyone at all? David, the archer, pole dancer and self-described nerd behind blumineck (he also goes by David the Arrow Bard), puts it to the test in a Short titled simply "Testing the chainmail bikini".
The little mail top has dressed heroines on paperback covers, in comics and in video games for decades. His tags for the video put "Sexism" right beside "Armor" and "Video game", so the joke carries a point. This time the man of the channel is the one wearing it.
It reached about 1.2 million views in its first eleven hours, several times what a blumineck Short usually gathers in a whole day. Within those same hours, the comments had already passed a usual first day's total more than twice over.
Most of the conversation is quoting. Many viewers repeat the order to stand still "like a good victim", plenty bring up Skyrim's adventurer who took an arrow to the knee, and a few single out his yelp about how cold the metal feels. One long thread argues that if bikini armor belongs in games at all, male characters should get it too. Another viewer notes the catch in the test: the arrow has to land on the mail itself for it to do anything.
It follows a strong run for the channel. "Archer vs Viral Archery 'trick'", posted a week earlier, is already past six and a half million views, and "Combat team up moves", one of his couple's fight videos, is closing in on a million.

What viewers say
Chainmail bikini armour doesn't raise your defense stats, it lowers your enemy's concentration. 🤣

The arrow-to-the-knee quote is chef kiss 😂
@DeadbeatDuderSee it on YouTubefor the bikini armor, the archer has to literally aim for the armor itself for it to work.
@jordanmainzinger5275See it on YouTubeEveryone gets to wear the bikini armor. Already better than every RPG.
@eljoel89See it on YouTubeI’ve got no problem with the concept of bikini armor in games, but it should apply to both male and female armor

@user-se5yl4gy6zSee it on YouTubeI still like the idea that a chain mail bikini is just a result of survivorship bias.
