Cyclone Arnab Alert LIVE Updates: चक्रवाती तूफान अर्नब का रौद्र रूप, तटीय इलाकों में मचाई तबाही
Cyclone Arnab has uprooted coconut palms and brought high waves and rain to parts of India's eastern coast, according to Indian Hindi-language news channel Aaj Tak. Its coastal alert report describes effects across Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and the union territory of Puducherry.
The channel identifies Yanam and Kakinada as places experiencing particularly high waves. Kakinada is a port city on Andhra Pradesh's Bay of Bengal coast. Yanam, although surrounded by Andhra Pradesh, belongs administratively to Puducherry, whose separate districts are scattered across different parts of India.
In a separate report published the same day, the broadcaster says several people have died, dozens of homes have been damaged and hundreds of villages in Andhra Pradesh have suffered damage. It says authorities are carrying out relief and rescue operations.
The alert broadcast cites an early-morning bulletin warning that danger persists along coastal Andhra Pradesh. Its account centers on damaging winds, rough seas and rainfall, with the coastal warning still in place at the time of that bulletin.
An active but weakening cyclone that made landfall in southern and eastern India. It is the first cyclone of the 2026 North Indian Ocean cyclone season.
