- 0:06Moss sets out the trip with his dog Stryda: remote islands, mangroves and open ocean.
- 0:54At low tide he finds an endangered green sawfish in a pool and measures it with sticks.
- 3:39After dark, a juvenile wobbegong shark rests motionless on the tidal flat.
- 5:49A venomous Stokes's sea snake approaches his hand in a tide pond.
- 7:39He hangs a hammock over rays and sharks in the mangroves, then the tide surprises him.
- 13:03A humpback whale circles beneath his transparent kayak, before he speaks about a proposed port at 14:36.
The sawfish is stuck. Low tide has left it in a shallow pool, and Brodie Moss kneels beside it with a couple of sticks to measure its length, keeping his voice low: "I'm your friend, buddy." On screen, a label names it a green sawfish. Moss calls it "honestly one of the rarest creatures in the ocean."
That is the first encounter in "4 Days Exploring For Sea Creatures In Remote Australia", which has drawn about 600,000 views since it went up. The four days of the title are a frame. The description says the episode took Moss more than a year to film, across tide pools, mangrove forests and isolated islands.
The channel was built partly on catch-and-cook adventures. Its most-watched regular video is still a giant lobster feast with his family from 2021, and the previous episode was about bowfishing for food. This one is about looking. A juvenile wobbegong shark lies still on the sand after dark. A venomous Stokes's sea snake swims up to his hand. Then he strings a hammock between mangrove trees above circling rays and sharks, and realises the tide is coming in, not going out.
His dog Stryda goes along, and in the comments viewers are glad to see the two of them out together again. Offshore, drone footage shows humpback whales and dolphins together, before a humpback circles beneath Moss's transparent kayak.
The last minutes change tone. Moss speaks out against industrialisation, dredging and a proposed deepwater port, which he says threaten the ecosystem he has just shown. "I truly believe that it could be one of the last places like this," he says. Several viewers say that passage reminded them of Steve Irwin.
