Wolff predicts Trump's circle will need lawyers if Democrats win

The Daily Beast's Inside Trump's Head clip looks beyond the midterms to the blame and legal pressure Michael Wolff expects after a Republican defeat.

Why this story? The video is running at 37,291 views a day, 13 times its usual pace (2,880).

Michael Wolff is looking beyond election night. In a short Inside Trump's Head clip, he predicts that a Republican Senate defeat would leave Trump's associates facing pressure from two directions: the president himself and Democrats.

"If they lose the Senate, the first thing that everybody is going to have to think about is getting a lawyer," Wolff says. He expects Trump to blame those around him for the result, followed by intense pressure from the opposition.

Published on October 30, the clip has added about 37,000 views in a day, roughly thirteen times its usual daily pace. Most of its views have arrived after its relatively modest opening day.

Wolff's argument is about how abruptly an election can change the position of people around a president. He predicts an internal implosion resembling the most turbulent stretches of Trump's first administration, with powerful associates suddenly on the defensive.

That focus differs from the channel's November 1 conversation between Joanna Coles and MeidasTouch co-founder Ben Meiselas, which makes the case for a Democratic victory. Wolff concentrates on the aftermath: "Everybody will be blamed by Trump for losing this election."
