Alcaraz is Vienna champion. The Spaniard beat Alex De Minaur 6-1, 6-4 in the Erste Bank Open final, his first title at the Wiener Stadthalle, and Tennis TV's highlights of it have drawn about 826,000 views since they went up.
The first set is over almost before it starts. Alcaraz breaks in the opening game and races to 4-1, and by the time a De Minaur return drifts wide on set point the commentator has his verdict ready: "It's a set of tennis that has belonged to Carlos Alcaraz."
The second set is the part people will replay. De Minaur, one of the fastest movers on the tour, starts pulling Alcaraz into longer exchanges, and one frantic scramble around the net ends with an Alcaraz passing shot that the commentator calls "point of the match, and maybe point of the tournament". The Australian keeps pressing and breaks back for 4-4. Alcaraz breaks again at once, then closes it out with a baseline winner on championship point.
It rounds off a week the channel has followed match by match, including a forty-shot rally against Daniil Medvedev. The comments arrived more than eight times faster than on a usual first day. Many viewers talk about how much court Alcaraz covered and how precisely he placed the ball, a few compare his defence to Rafael Nadal's, and plenty argue that De Minaur played about as well as he could and still came up short.
The same Sunday also brought the Basel final, where Valentin Vacherot came from a set down to beat Jiri Lehecka. On the channel, though, Vienna has drawn the bigger audience by some way, and even a lighter Vienna clip titled "De Minaur Has Had Enough Of Alcaraz" has passed the Basel highlights.

I don't think De Minaur could have played better, especially in the second set. He just ran into a Spanish brick wall loaded with Vamos! grafitti.

I have a feeling that Alcaraz's current game is not that focused on crushing forehands and impossible shots, but more about smart ball placement and enduring rallies
