Thousands of homes in south-west England were still without electricity after Storm Austen as northern parts of the UK prepared for another named storm. Daily Record's short bulletin puts those two situations side by side: repairs still under way in the south, and an amber warning for Storm Boelo farther north.

The report says the warning covers Scotland, northern England down to Carlisle and northeastern Northern Ireland, running from Saturday evening through Sunday evening. Gusts could exceed 80 mph, with the Met Office warning of danger to life from flying debris and crashing waves and urging people to stay indoors as much as possible.

There is no presenter or spoken commentary. Captions carry the updates over archive footage of rough coastal waters, waves striking a pier wall and a warning flag whipping in the wind. According to the National Grid update cited in the bulletin, more than 3,700 homes remained without power on Saturday morning, despite engineers having restored electricity to many more.

The Short reached about 177,000 views in its first sixteen hours, far beyond the channel's usual first-day audience for that format. A separate, longer Daily Record report on the storms also drew an unusually large audience. That report covers a partial collapse of Brighton's old pier, diverted flights and rail disruption, extending the coverage beyond the forecast to the damage and interrupted journeys Austen had already left behind.

The storm Short is far above Daily Record's usual first-day reach for Shorts. Its longer report on storm damage also drew substantially more views than a typical regular upload.
