Sassy's title credits one hero, but the clip shows a second climber and a row of hands at the railing finishing the job.

Hero Climbs Down A Bridge To Save A Stranded Puppy

Getting down to the puppy is only half the job. A man in a teal-and-white patterned sweater lowers himself down a concrete bridge support, drops to the stone base and splashes through shallow river water. He reaches a small black-and-white dog caught in the shrubs on a patch of land and lifts it into his arms. Then he has to get it back up.

The clip is "Hero Climbs Down A Bridge To Save A Stranded Puppy", posted by the animal-clips channel Sassy, and it has drawn more than nine million views since yesterday. The climb back is the part worth watching. A young man in a striped shirt comes down to a ledge on the pier, takes the puppy and holds it up to people leaning over the yellow railing, who pull it onto the walkway.

Even then, the two men are still below. One boosts the other onto the bridge deck, and bystanders reach down for the man in the sweater. When he gets to the top, the puppy is waiting on the sidewalk to greet him.

The comments arrived about eighteen times faster than on the channel's usual first day, and many make the same point: this was a team effort, not the work of the single hero in the title. Plenty of the thanks come in Russian, Japanese, German and Spanish.
