Brave Cat Fights For Its Life Against A Coyote

The lounge chair buys the cat a little time. The wooden post offers a way out.

Security-camera footage shared by the clips channel Sassy shows an orange tabby defending itself against a coyote on a nighttime deck. The cat swipes at its pursuer, ducks beneath a plastic chair and dodges away when the coyote knocks the chair over. Then it climbs a tall support post, putting itself beyond the predator's reach.

The Short drew about 6.7 million views since yesterday. Unlike the human-led animal rescues Sassy often shares, this encounter has no person stepping in: the cat finds its own escape route.

Viewers are discussing the cat's grip and defensive swipes, along with whether pet cats should stay indoors. The footage ends after the coyote leaves, with the cat still clinging high on the post. Sassy's description says its whereabouts after the encounter were unknown at the time of the original report.
