The former Shuttle Landing Facility is at the center of Donald Trump's proposal for a major new air-and-space exhibition venue. Speaking at the Kennedy Space Center's UP Summit, the president promised an event that would surpass the Paris air show in scale.
"We will have, within two years, the biggest air show... in the world, by far," Trump said. He described redeveloping the runway site into a venue for demonstrations and commercial aerospace agreements. That is the proposal behind the broad promise of improvements in RSBN's coverage, rather than a new launchpad or spacecraft.
The channel's full-speech upload drew roughly 92,000 views in its first day, about fourteen times its usual start for regular videos. Its comment section was also much busier than usual. RSBN separately posted a longer replay of the visit and an excerpt focused on the proposed Kennedy improvements.
The November 6 address moves from jobs and election results into space policy. Trump acknowledges Artemis astronauts in the audience, discusses lunar-lander test operations and outlines ambitions for a permanent moon presence and a nuclear-powered spacecraft bound for Mars. He also points to executive actions concerning a Space Academy and commercial overland supersonic flight.
The runway returns to the story at the end. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman joins the astronauts to present Trump with a golden commemorative plaque, saying it will be installed at the facility Trump has pledged to develop.
A NASA facility on Merritt Island, Florida, that has served as the agency’s primary launch center since 1968. It has supported Apollo, Space Shuttle and Artemis launches.
