ACT media conference interrupted by teenson bikes | RNZ
David Seymour stops addressing reporters to ask a group of teenage cyclists about their electric bikes. Before he returns to the microphones, there has been a group photograph, a campaign chant and a small misunderstanding about his job.
RNZ's outdoor press-conference clip shows the ACT leader greeting the riders and asking, jokingly, whether they are a gang. The conversation moves to their bikes and how far they have travelled, before one cyclist requests a photo.
Seymour agrees, adding a political joke: "A lot of politicians have had their photo taken with bikies this election, they get into trouble."
After posing with the group, he asks them to say "Party vote ACT" for the camera. They oblige. The clip has drawn roughly 5,600 views since yesterday, the largest audience over that period among RNZ's new uploads.
As Seymour heads back to resume the conference, someone asks whether he is the mayor. "Am I the mayor? No, no, I'm hoping to be deputy prime minister, but there you go," he replies.
A right-wing political party in New Zealand, led by David Seymour.
