Access to Ambedkar Park and a route used by processions are at the center of Gyan Tiwari's demand to clear construction beside a road in Sitapur, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Footage carried by India's Hindi news channel Republic Bharat shows the Bharatiya Janata Party state legislator confronting a resident at Durgapurwa crossing in the Rampur Mathura area. Tiwari insists that pillars and an extension be dismantled, warning that otherwise he will have them removed with a bulldozer.
According to the report, villagers complained that construction extended roughly a dozen feet onto public road land, obstructing passage. Tiwari represents the Sevata constituency in Sitapur district.
The resident attempts to explain the structure, but Tiwari rejects his explanation and repeats his demand for removal. He then phones an official, saying the construction has gradually advanced into the street and is blocking the procession route and access to the park.
During the call, Tiwari asks for the Public Works Department and a JCB earthmover to clear the pillars and construction. The clip ends with him walking away: it shows the confrontation and his instructions, not a demolition or an official determination of the road boundary.
