A used radio lets Pine Hollow's battery-draining Ford sleep

Ivan's three-upload week pairs a two-part Transit Connect diagnosis with a Saab whose throttle fault proves elusive.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

A work van that keeps waking its computers is not getting much rest, and neither is its battery. Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics gave that problem two installments, with the opening Transit Connect investigation drawing the biggest audience of its three new uploads: about 78,000 views.

Ivan's description lays out the puzzle: even this base-model Ford has 22 computers, and something is waking its networks repeatedly. The follow-up narrows the repair to the radio. Rather than buy a new unit, the customer chooses a used original-equipment replacement; Ivan installs it, checks its configuration with ForScan and verifies that the van enters deep sleep. Viewers discuss alternative switched-power fixes, while one describes using “Ivan would be proud” as a personal troubleshooting benchmark.

The Saab episode supplies a different frustration. Its throttle-position fault appears on the first cold start, then refuses to return after the code is cleared. That newer upload is drawing the most daily views now, comfortably above either Ford installment.

The channel added roughly half a million views and gained subscribers over the week, although today's viewing pace is well below usual. Among nearby motoring channels, Bandita Drive had a particularly large weekly gain, while The Skid Factory was quieter. For Pine Hollow, the week's most satisfying contrast is between an intermittent Saab fault and a Ford finally allowed to switch off.

  • This looks like a good situation for one of your specialties; rewire the radio fuse to an ignition source.
