Did approve the advert made in his support? 's answer to Piers Morgan is no.

"We didn't coordinate at all, and that's what you're supposed to do if you're doing it right," Uygur says in Morgan's Washington midterms programme, which has drawn about 365,000 views since yesterday. The exchange adds the advert-maker's account to the debate over Democrat endorsing Republican in Michigan's Senate contest.

The Rebellion PAC advert places a couple's grocery bills alongside American military aid to Israel. Uygur defends that contrast and says the campaign helped El-Sayed with independent and undecided voters. Morgan challenges the economic argument: he attributes rising energy costs primarily to the war with Iran and disruption around the Strait of Hormuz, rather than aid to Israel.

That distinction gives the interview its central question: what connection should voters draw between overseas policy and the cost of living at home? Uygur argues that American policy in the Middle East serves Israeli interests. Morgan disputes the advert's explanation of household pressures.

Mehdi Hasan then separates the advert from Stevens' decision. "This idea that she joined Mike Rogers because of an ad that Abdul El-Sayed had nothing to do with is insane," he says. His view is that the controversy provided an excuse for her endorsement, not its underlying cause.

Despite the title's "El-Sayed vs Haley Stevens" billing, this is a discussion about the candidates, not a face-to-face debate between them. The programme includes footage of Stevens explaining her support for Rogers, followed by interviews and panels. It also contains a paid insurance segment.

Later, Jon Sopel and Isabel Brown disagree over another election question: whether Democrats have offered a positive economic programme or relied too heavily on opposition to Trump.
