A Second Chance Silicon Booth at GrrCON passes 1.5 million for Chris Boden

The Michigan security conference supplied two of his five shorts, alongside a retroreflector and a look at off-grid messaging over LoRa radio.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

More than 1.1 billion lifetime views sit behind Chris Boden's channel, the one whose about text borrows a friend's description: a fact show hosted by Deadpool. This week added a good share to that pile, and most of it came from a conference booth.

GrrCON, the information security and hacking conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan, shows up twice. The first short, simply titled after the event, went up on September 24. Four days later came "Second Chance Silicon Booth," tagged for IT, helping and skills, and it has passed 1.5 million views in about three days. That one is carrying the channel, which is running at well over double its usual daily views.

The other uploads went back to the workbench. "But, We Do!" points at transformers and high voltage. "Retroreflector" is about lasers and the kind of mirror that sends light straight back to where it came from. The newest, "Off Grid Comms," tags Meshtastic, MeshCore and LoRa, the low-power radio projects that let people text without a cell network. It is less than a day old and already the channel's second-busiest video.

Among the science channels closest to him in size, Scott Manley is having the loudest stretch, with Undecided with Matt Ferrell and BBC Earth Science also above their usual pace. Animagraffs is quieter than normal. Boden sits seventh of nine by subscribers, with one of the busiest weeks in the group.
