Grandpa had been to this lodge before, decades ago with Tom's dad and uncle. This time, the invitation extended to the next generation. "So my grandpa wanted to do that trip again with the next generation," Tom explains in Outdoor Tom's only new upload this week.
"(103 Salmon & 7 Grizzlies) Epic Alaska Adventure" follows the family to Katmai Lodge, arriving by charter plane on a dirt airstrip before trading travel clothes for waders. Soon they're fishing from a river sandbar, with an on-screen fish counter keeping busy. The title's salmon tally refers to the catches they filmed; Tom says the family caught close to twice that many during the trip.
There's plenty between bites, too: a large bear print in the sand, a grizzly swimming across the river and a red fox wandering near the cabins. Back at the workshop, Tom's dad and Uncle Dan tie bright pink flies for the next outing. It's a family return visit with some very substantial wildlife encounters along the way.
The upload reached roughly 732,000 views in its first seventeen hours and is comfortably the channel's strongest source of viewing momentum right now. September's "10 Days Fishing, Dog Sledding, & Exploring Alaska" continues to draw viewers, as does the older Innoko River camping trip with Tom's brother Nathan.
Outdoor Tom's subscriber count held steady at 2.24 million over the week. Across the neighboring outdoors channels, HADZABE TRIBE LIFE had a particularly busy week for views and added subscribers, while Nick Fry had a quieter one. For Tom, the new lodge adventure puts a multigenerational family outing at the center of the week's viewing.
