Waltz and Rodríguez invoke the same UN rule during podium dispute
The New York Post's fast-starting clip shows the assembly president trying to restore order as both diplomats cite procedural rules.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 303,190 views a day, 15 times a normal first day on this channel (19,964).
Shouting Match ERUPTS at UN After Mike Waltz RIPS Havana Regime’s Wealth
Mike Waltz reads from the rulebook while demanding that Cuba's foreign minister move away from the podium. Later in the same clip, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla invokes that very rule himself.
The confrontation at the UN General Assembly has drawn more than 200,000 views in 11 hours on the New York Post's channel, already far beyond its usual first-day audience for Shorts.
According to the Post's description, the exchange began as the US ambassador discussed the Cuban government's real estate holdings, prompting Rodríguez to approach and accuse him of lying. The clip opens with the confrontation already underway: Waltz repeatedly tells him to back away, then cites Rule 71 on points of order.
"This individual needs to back away from this podium. He's not going to intimidate me," Waltz says.
The assembly president intervenes, asking delegates to sit down and follow procedure. He describes his responsibility as administering the rules fairly and independently. Rodríguez subsequently raises his own point of order, also citing Rule 71, before the footage shows him walking back to his seat.
The Post's upload is chiefly a record of that procedural confrontation, rather than a detailed presentation of the property claims that preceded it.
